Upload an XML file

We recommend that any reporting entity that has to declare numerous transactions (e.g., transactions on a bank account or an electronic money wallet) develop IT solutions to enable direct export of the transactions and all relevant details from its IT system into an XML file. This XML file will constitute the report.

The XML file must strictly comply with the technical requirements set by the FIU. The creation of XML files is explained under IT Topics Plus d'informations.

Reporting entities that have completed their IT developments are asked to first send the XML files in the training environment so that we can quality-check them.

For data quality reasons, please do not send XML files to the production environment until you have received approval from the FIU. This also applies after significant changes to your developments.

 

 

It is possible to upload either an XML file or a ZIP file.

If you upload an XML file, a section related to attachments will appear:

For the attachments to be sent with the declaration, they must be visible in the “Attachments included with the declaration” section (you therefore need to select them and then click “Attach files”).

Attaching files is not mandatory.

If you upload a ZIP file, this section will not appear. Therefore, any attachments must be added directly inside the ZIP file.

Sending declarations in XML format can be done:

  • individually, declaration by declaration
    • by uploading the XML file and adding any attachments in a second step
    • or by uploading a ZIP file containing the XML file and any attachments
  • in bulk, by grouping several declarations (XML files) in a ZIP file

Two scenarios may occur:

None of the report include attachments

  • In this case, the ZIP file simply contains the XML declaration files.

At least one report includes attachments

  • In order to determine which attachment belongs to which declaration, a directory must be created per declaration inside the ZIP. This directory contains the XML declaration file as well as all accompanying attachments.
  • Note: For the attachments, the same file type restrictions apply as for an online report.

Note: There is no specific naming convention required for the ZIP file, directories, or attachments. For convenience, make sure to give meaningful names to the attachments.

The maximum size of a ZIP file is 30 MB.
