Business rules
goAML Web performs an initial validation of a report to ensure that it has the expected structure.
However, certain rules cannot be checked at the structural level alone. For this reason, “business rules” are in place to inform the FIU team when a report does not comply with these rules, even if it is syntactically valid.
In goAML Web, the status of the report will then appear as X – Transferred From Web.
At this stage, the FIU decides, on a case‑by‑case basis, whether the rule violation is serious enough to justify a complete rejection of the report (what to do in such cases?) or whether the report can be accepted, with the reporter being asked to comply with the rule for the next submission.
The following list includes the most important business rules, without being exhaustive:
- A report of type “Transactions” must contain transactions.
- A report of type “Suspicious Activity” must not contain any transactions.
- Account numbers must be provided correctly.
- The SWIFT code cannot be “–”.
- Persons’ names and first names must be provided correctly.
- The local currency must be EUR (this applies only to reports submitted in XML; for those entered via the interface, the currency is correct by default).
- A report concerning terrorist financing must be submitted using the appropriate type:
- TFTR – Terrorist Financing (with transactions)
- TFAR – Terrorist Financing (without transactions)
