Guidelines on the cooperation with the FIU

The FIU has just published its new guidelines on cooperation between obliged entities and the FIU, notably containing information on suspicious operations reports, responses to information requests from the FIU, as well as freezing orders.

These guidelines replace the Guidelines on the reporting of suspicious operations and the Guidelines on the freezing of suspicious transactions ordered by the FIU.

The new guidelines also seek to prepare obliged entities for the new obligations arising from the Regulation (EU) 2024/1624 and the Directive (EU) 2024/1640.

In particular, they anticipate certain provisions of Article 69 of Regulation (EU) 2024/1624. The most significant change is the replacement by the FIU of the response deadlines applicable to its information requests. These guidelines emphasize the importance of preparing for forthcoming legal developments, while not replacing the official legal texts themselves.
